Chair Yoga - 25 Hours

Yoga is for everyone! Many lineages of yoga can be adapted for practice in a chair, allowing a wide population range to experience its benefits. Chair yoga is definitely NOT just for those with impaired mobility - it is a wellness practice that can be done anytime, anywhere!

Physical therapists, yoga teachers, nurses, elder caregivers, and senior populations are all new and growing areas exploring this form of yoga and specialized yoga instruction.

Program Overview

Our chair yoga teacher training is for teachers who want to adapt their teaching to people with various mobility issues, injuries, or space constraints. We prepare you to adapt traditional yoga asana into vibrant and interesting seated practices so that students of any age, shape, ability can enjoy a yoga class safely and comfortably in a variety of locations.

In this 25-hour course, you will learn how to adapt your asana,  use props to support people in varying physical conditions, and how to apply your knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the needs of different populations.

We will give you the confidence to help your students access the benefits of yoga, whether they are recovering from surgery or injury, using a walker or wheelchair, or have limited range of motion. We will also give you the tools to incorporate yoga into workplace wellness practices. With more people working from home, the ability to practice yoga in your living room or office with very little preparation and no equipment, is increasingly in demand!

Upon Completion

After receiving your certificate, you can count it towards your continuing education units with Yoga Alliance and towards your 300/500-hour Phoenix Community Yoga certificate. In addition, you may begin teaching chair yoga if you are already a 200-hour certified instructor.
